When To Start Breastfeeding

You always need to make sure the baby is positioned just right so they can reach your breast and that the baby is able to get the nipple inside of their small mouth. One thing to note is that if your nipples feel sore it can often be because the baby is not attaching right to the nipple. Make sure that the baby’s mouth is covering the lower part of the nipple so they can get proper sucking. You can also use a breast shield if you experience problems or issues with your baby sucking or attaching. Just make sure you stick with it and give your baby a chance to get used to it. Also, make sure you give yourself some time to get use to it as well because you’ll want to stay relaxed during the baby breastfeeding. Again, you can start to breastfeed your baby during the first day at the hospital but make sure you both are ready for it. Just make sure your eating right and having a strong breastfeeding diet before you get to that point.
